Our Preacher

Our preacher, Jesse Michael Dickison, was born November 18, 1951 in Gamaliel, KY. When he was four months old, his family moved to central Illinois where he grew up. He attended school in Mt. Auburn, IL and graduated in May, 1969.

Jesse was baptized into Christ November 30, 1973 in Pana, IL. He preached his first sermon in April, 1974. In the fall of 1974 he enrolled as a student at David Lipscomb College in Nashville, TN. He married Tami Lynn Shoemaker of Owensville, Indiana on March 28, 1975 in Pana, IL.

In July, 1976 Jesse and Tami moved to Dallas, TX, where he began studies at the Preston Road School of Preaching. He graduated in July, 1978. While in school, their first daughter, Joanna was born in 1977. They were later blessed with the birth of two sons: Eldred Rudell (Rudy) in 1979 and Jacob Keith (Jake) in 1980. In 1998 they adopted a daughter (Amber Dickison Andry).

His first full time work was with the church in Frisco, TX (1978-1982). In 1982 they moved to Indiana, where he preached for the Petersburg church of Christ until 1984. At that time they moved to Lobelville, TN and worked with the church in that community. In 1986 they returned to Texas where he preached for the Lord’s church in Honey Grove until 2000. They then moved to Mississippi (Olive Branch) where Jesse preached for the next 7½ years. He also served as an elder for that congregation from 2003 to 2007. In 2007 they moved to Springhill, LA where Jesse served as the preacher until 2017. It was in March, 2017 that Jesse moved to Sapulpa, OK to preach for the Lee & Walnut church of Christ.

Jesse and Tami have been blessed with the births of four grandchildren: three grandsons and one granddaughter. Jesse has no plans to retire from preaching, but wants to preach as long as he is able--all the way to the end of life’s journey. While Tami and Jesse do not know what the future holds for them, they do know Who holds the future. To Him be the glory and praise and thanks and honor for ever and ever.
